Lab diamond questions
Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. A lab grown diamond is a real diamond. It has the same chemical structure, hardness and sparkle as a mined diamond. The only difference is where it formed.
Will a lab grown diamond pass a diamond tester?
Yes. Standard diamond testers identify lab grown diamonds as diamond, because they are diamond. Only specialist laboratory equipment can tell the origin.
What does IGI certification mean?
IGI, the International Gemological Institute, is an independent laboratory that grades diamonds for cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. Your certificate records those grades and ships with your ring.
How are lab grown diamonds made?
A small diamond seed is grown into a larger crystal using either high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) or chemical vapour deposition (CVD). The result is then cut and polished like any diamond.
